Dina Meyer was born in Forest Hills, Queens, New York, but moved to Dix Hills, Long Island in the last year in junior high school. Her siblings include an older brother named Gregory as well as a younger sibling known as Evan. The modeling profession was her first experience in the industry. She did it between the ages of nine and sixteen. Ron Stetson taught her the Sanford Meisner acting technique at The Neighborhood Playhouse. Sandra Bullock was among those who studied to this manner and so were Michael Douglas, Jeff Goldblum Leslie Nielsen and Diane Keaton. Her debut role was Beverly Hills 90210 which forced her to move from Beverly Hills to Los Angeles. The role was as the main character in Johnny Mnemonic in which she performed almost all her stunts by herself. She also established her skills as an actor. Through her agent who also represents Matt LeBlanc she scored a part as a guest on Friends.
